Handle a Listing Suppression

Identify and fix a suppressed Amazon listing so the product becomes active and searchable again. Suppressed listings cannot be found in search or may be hidden from customers until the issue is resolved.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Amazon Seller Central with permission to edit listings.
  • ASIN or SKU of the suppressed listing.
  • Product details (title, description, images, price) ready for review.
  • Awareness of Amazon’s content and image rules (no claims, no watermarks, etc.).

Procedure

Identify a Suppressed Listing

  1. Log in to Seller Central.
  2. Go to Inventory → Manage All Inventory.
  3. Look for a “Suppressed” or “Inactive” notice under the product status column.
    • You may also see a red warning banner at the top.
  4. Click Suppressed (in blue text) to open the list of affected listings.

Review the Suppression Reason

  1. Amazon will show a reason such as:
    • “Missing main image”
    • “Title too long”
    • “Invalid product type”
    • “Restricted keywords”
    • “Product detail page violation”
  2. Click the ASIN or “Edit” next to the affected listing.
  3. Go through the tabs (Vital Info, Images, Description, etc.) to locate the issue.

Fix the Issue

  1. If missing image: Upload a compliant main image (white background, product centered).
  2. If title too long: Shorten it to under 200 characters.
  3. If restricted terms: Remove banned words like “cures,” “treats,” “heals,” “FDA-approved.”
  4. If data mismatch: Update product type, size, or variation fields.
  5. If inactive for price errors: Check that your price isn’t outside Amazon’s fair pricing policy.
  6. Once you’ve fixed the problem, click Save and Finish.
  7. Wait 15–30 minutes, then refresh your Manage Inventory page.

Post-Execution Tasks

  • Confirm the listing now shows as Active under Manage Inventory.
  • View the live listing on Amazon and confirm it’s searchable.
  • Check for indexing on key keywords (use ASIN + keyword search).
  • Take a screenshot of the resolved suppression for internal records.
  • Log the suppression reason and resolution date in your Listing Issue Tracker.

Hi, my listing (ASIN: [ASIN]) remains suppressed after I corrected the issue shown in Seller Central. Could you please refresh the listing and confirm if there are any hidden suppression reasons or data errors preventing reactivation?

Best Practices

  • Always use compliant language — avoid medical or superlative claims.
  • Keep image files organized and compliant with Amazon’s guidelines.
  • If listing suppression happens repeatedly, review it for deeper policy issues.
  • Use consistent title formats and keyword placement to prevent data conflicts.
